Get a-head

Ever since I was little I've loved headbands. Being young and indecisive, I was known for wearing even more than one headband at once! Even my hairdresser knows that my hair must look amazing, even slightly pulled back. Above is my collection of fun, interesting headbands. Not just any headband can be perched on my head!

Gucci's Fall 2012 show was today and it was all about deep colors and Harry Potter glasses? (Not shown but they're there!) Bright hues are definitely last season. Beautiful purple and green velvets and brocades and sheers with sparkling appliques were all over the runway. My absolute favorites were the black capes (not pictured). What do you think? Was this an exceptional show?

Fredericks of Hollywood vs Victoria's Secret

Have you ever flipped through a Victoria's Secret catalogue or browsed the Frederick's of Hollywood website and just hated what you saw? The underwear is cheap looking and the models are unrealistically thin. I know that I want to be glamorous, not skanky. That's why I love buying lingerie at Secret in Lace. The models are beautiful and even curvy! I know that whatever I buy is made well, unlike Victoria's Secret who used to make their bras well.

The best part is their Dita Von Teese and Betty Page collection. Its vintage lingerie heaven! They even have clothes and pin ups for sale.

Lately I've been talking about finger/marcel waves for various reasons.

Sometimes it is hard to tell the difference between the two. Marcel waves were developed by hairdresser Francois Marcel in France. His process involves a small barreled curling irons or small curlers. To set these waves you take out the curls and brush them out when cooled.

Fingers waves are different in that they involve setting lotion and no form of heat. Instead the hands/comb kink the hair into place. This technique is usually used on African American women.

There are a lot of tutorials on youtube but 95% of them are crap. Here is the best one I could find.

My mother's wedding dress

My mom got married in the late 70's/early 80's. This is quite evident by the amount of lace on her dress. A couple of years ago my mom gave it to me because she obviously had no use for it and it wasn't exactly a dress filled with happy memories (my parents divorced when I was 3). I really wish I had pictures of her in it but there aren't too many. I don't even think that they have a wedding album. Having her dress with me in my trunk is kind of like having her with me now that I'm in college and don't live close by.
