Lovely Lolita

Recently I put some of my old lolita brand clothes up on trampleclothing.com. There in great condition and include Baby the Stars Shine Bright and Metamorphose.

Lolita style is a subculture that developed from Japanese street fashion and can be seen all around Harajuku Tokyo! Its very cute and the style resembles roccoco and little girl fashions. The best place to see examples of this is to look at the Baby the Stars Shine Bright blog.

Wearing these clothes always made me feel beautiful.

Beautiful Barbies

Long gone are my days of playing with dolls but sometimes I love looking at pictures of Barbies. From old reproductions to Bob Mackie designer costumes I wish I could have the closet of the luckiest doll on earth. Here are some current ones that I wish I could collect.

Grace Kelly barbies in her wedding dress and To Catch a Theif. Not shown is the Rear Widow Grace Kelly.

Here is the Mad Men collection featuring Don Draper, Betty Draper, Roger Sterling, and Joan Harris. (Cigarettes not included.)

Circle pins

One very popular accessory in the 50's and 60's was the circle pin. They were all designed so differently but were worn on a sweater or jacket. Some people think they had special meaning like whether one was a virgin or in a relationship. Personally after doing some research I believe that they were just popular kind of like the plastic "sex braclets" my generation wore. Every girl had them all over her arm but no one I knew was even sexually active (we were in middle school).  They were just cheap and colorful and fun to wear. You can still find these at some vintage stores. Anyone have a collection of these pins?

First Lady of Style

Recently I had to do some research on Jackie O. We know her for being one of the best dressed First Ladies in history. Her pink pill box hat was immortalized in fashion history and many look to her as a style icon. I just wanted to share some of my favorite pictures I found. Katie Holmes recently portrayed her in the mini series "The Kennedys" which I've been watching. There are also some costumes this Halloween season. Have you seen?

Style According to Chanel

Image via ballinbudget.files.wordpress.com

To immerse myself with fashion this summer I downloaded the Chanel app for my iphone (its free!) and bought this darling book. Since I will be 21 soon I thought that I should at least try to be as fabulous as Gabrielle Chanel.  Maybe make this blog a little bit like Julie and Julia but more like Karalyn and Coco. Everyone says how I do not take risks and that I am scared to fail. I need to be more fearless and an in your face bitch like darling Chanel.

"It is always better to be slightly under dressed."

This concept is so hard for me. I love dressing up. I want to look my best even when I go to classes. How will people believe that I can dress others if I cannot dress myself, I think. When most people dress down to go to Walmart, I always make sure that there is thought behind my outfit. Is it possible for us to even under dress in the society where jeans and a tshirt is the go to outfit?

"Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say, and not giving a damn."

These are words to live by. Do I even know who I am never mind what I want to say? I don't believe I have the self esteem to not give a damn. How did Chanel ever do it? Was it because she had nothing to lose? Then again, neither do I. For an orphaned girl to end up becoming a millionaire, Chanel must have done something right.

work

Last week I went to Mood and bought some amazing feathers for the black swan costume I'm making.
Sadly Swatch wasn't there. So far I've draped the bodice.
